Service lift area, shaft and landing coordination.
The service-lift area is more than the lift opening. Review the loading and unloading space, approach route, landing access, shaft or enclosure, structural and electrical interfaces, door protection, ventilation and cleaning needs. A restaurant tray route differs from a hotel housekeeping trolley or a retail stock movement. Share the largest expected item, its route and operating pattern so the surveyed proposal addresses the real back-of-house task.
- Approach route and clear loading space at each landing
- Shaft, enclosure, pit, headroom and structural interfaces
- Door position, trolley protection and staff access
- Power, ventilation, communication and fire-strategy interfaces
- Cleaning, hygiene and building-management requirements
Define what “service lift” means for the building.
The phrase can describe a small goods-only dumbwaiter, a larger goods lift or a passenger-rated lift used by staff. These are not interchangeable. Start with the items, users, loading method, floors, entrances, frequency and operating environment. The proposed equipment and permissions follow the intended duty, not the label used in an enquiry.
Hospitality, restaurants and food-service routes.
Hotels, restaurants, cafés and catering facilities may need dishes, food containers, linen, housekeeping items or supplies to move between levels. The brief should map collection and delivery points, hygiene and cleaning priorities, loading heights, door arrangement and peak service periods. A food-service dumbwaiter is planned differently from a staff passenger lift or general goods lift.
Retail, offices and residential service areas.
Back-of-house retail, offices, apartment buildings and clubs can have different trolleys, packages, waste routes or staff flows. Describe the largest expected item and how it is handled rather than choosing a capacity from memory. Entrance protection, landing access, finishes and controls should suit the operating team and the building’s management rules.
Shaft, openings and building interfaces.
The lift route affects structure, openings, pit or support conditions, headroom, power, fire strategy, drainage where relevant and access for installation and maintenance. Do not start construction from a generic drawing. Elevaya reviews available plans and the surveyed location, then coordinates the selected equipment with the responsible building professionals and authorities.
Installation, handover and ongoing maintenance.
The proposal should identify equipment, supply, assembly, installation, associated building responsibilities, testing, documentation and aftercare. Once in service, the maintenance plan should reflect duty, environment, usage and cleaning. Elevaya provides independent multi-brand support across all seven Emirates, with response commitments defined in the accepted contract.
A quotation built around the actual route.
Share the Emirate, building use, floors, intended items, users, entrances, drawings and project stage. For existing equipment, add the manufacturer, model, condition and service history. All quotations follow a technical site survey so capacity, dimensions, interfaces, finishes, programme and responsibilities are based on the property rather than a generic online price.
Questions, answered.
Is a service lift the same as a dumbwaiter?
Not always. A dumbwaiter is generally a small goods-only lift. “Service lift” can also refer to larger goods equipment or a staff passenger lift. Intended users and duty must be defined.
Can people travel in a service lift?
Only equipment designed, specified and approved for passenger use may carry people. A goods-only or dumbwaiter unit must not be treated as a passenger lift.
Do you install service lifts for hotels and restaurants?
Yes, Elevaya assesses hospitality and food-service routes across the UAE. Equipment, hygiene considerations, loading and building interfaces are confirmed after survey.
How much does a service lift cost?
Price depends on intended duty, capacity, travel, entrances, equipment, shaft and building work, finishes and service scope. Elevaya quotes after a technical survey.
How much area is needed for a service lift?
There is no responsible universal area figure. The lift duty, load dimensions, entrances, landing circulation, shaft or enclosure and building interfaces must be surveyed before dimensions are confirmed.
Elevaya develops every project around the surveyed equipment, building and agreed service scope.
