Start with an accurate asset and document list.
Identify every lift, escalator or moving walkway in scope by location, equipment type and unit reference. Gather available handover records, previous inspection reports, maintenance records, drawings, certificates and open-defect lists. Missing information should be recorded rather than guessed. A clear register prevents findings and actions being assigned to the wrong asset.
Survey observations and define rectification.
The readiness review can identify visible condition issues, outstanding maintenance actions and areas requiring further technical checks. Each proposed repair or replacement is documented with the affected asset and evidence. The inspector may still identify additional requirements. Restricted equipment, shafts and safety systems are handled only by appropriately competent personnel under controlled access.
Coordinate corrective work without blurring responsibility.
Door work, controls, indicators, communication equipment, lighting, guarding, finishes and housekeeping can involve different trades or approval routes. The action plan names the responsible party, prerequisite and completion evidence for each item. Building works and lift works are separated so the main contractor, specialist and property team understand their interfaces.
Plan the test day and access.
Confirm the site contact, work permits, keys, safe access, equipment availability and the people required to support the independent inspector. For occupied buildings, communicate downtime and protect the work area. Test weights, tools or specialist attendance are arranged only when included in the agreed scope. The inspector controls the inspection method and acceptance decision.
Close findings with evidence.
After inspection, record every finding against the correct asset, assign responsibility and retain completion evidence. Elevaya can quote agreed rectification after reviewing the finding and equipment. Reinspection and authority fees, dates and acceptance remain subject to the appointed body. The final file should preserve reports, corrective records and the maintenance actions carried forward.
