PLANNING GUIDE / OWNERS & ARCHITECTS

Villa lift dimensions. Measure the building, then select the system.

There is no universal villa-lift footprint. Cabin, platform, shaft, doors, pit, overhead, equipment space and structure form one coordinated system.

A cabin dimension is not a shaft dimension.

Door clear opening, guide clearances, structure, cladding, services and tolerances sit around the usable space. Ask every proposal to label cabin, platform, clear opening and builder opening separately.

Collect the measurements that shape feasibility.

Record plan area, finished floor levels, total travel, pit condition, overhead, entrance directions and equipment-access route. Existing villas also need checks for structure, waterproofing, concealed services and occupied rooms.

  • Floor-to-floor heights and total travel
  • Same-side, opposite or adjacent entrances
  • Available shaft or framed-enclosure zone
  • Pit, ramp and threshold conditions
  • Top-floor overhead and equipment access

Plan the whole user route.

Review the path to the lift, manoeuvring space at every landing, door operation, controls, thresholds and destination room. Where an accessibility standard applies, the responsible designer and authority must confirm the current requirement.

Build from coordinated drawings, not a web table.

A brochure is for shortlisting. Construction should use accepted product drawings coordinated by the architect, structural engineer and trades. Elevaya confirms the proposed lift and installation scope after a survey; project disciplines and approvals remain with the responsible parties.

Can a home lift fit without a pit or machine room?

Some equipment is designed for reduced pit depths or alternative machinery arrangements, but pitless does not mean no preparation and MRL does not mean no equipment space. Obtain model-specific shaft, cabin, landing, headroom and access drawings. Compare the usable cabin area after enclosure, entrances and structural tolerances are allowed for. An external lift also needs weather, drainage and solar-exposure planning.

Questions, answered.

What is the minimum space needed for a villa lift?

There is no safe universal minimum. The system, usable platform or cabin, doors, structure, clearances, pit or ramp, overhead and accessibility requirements must be reviewed together.

Can I use online dimensions for construction?

Use them only for early orientation. Do not form openings or build a shaft until the selected system and coordinated drawings are accepted.

Does every lift need a pit and machine room?

Requirements differ by system. Some use a reduced pit, ramp or no separate machine room, but the arrangement must be confirmed for the product and site.

Can you confirm home-lift space from a floor-plan photograph?

A photograph can start the discussion but cannot establish structural suitability, clearances or exact dimensions. Elevaya checks the building and the selected equipment before confirming the shaft, pit, headroom and installation scope.

Elevaya develops every project around the surveyed equipment, building and agreed service scope.
